The file format you choose for an optimized image is determined by the color, tonal, and graphic characteristics of the original image. Depending on the file format, you can specify image quality, background transparency or matting, color display and downloading method.

Sliced images should be compressed as JPEG or GIF. Generally JPEG is advisable for photographs as it preserves the quality of the scanned image.

Illustrations with flat color, Sharp edges and Crisp detail should be compressed as GIF files.

1. After the full layout is sliced, Click on the Optimized icon (besides original in the top panel of the layout window).

This action displays the layout in an Optimized Mode, wherein the exact look of the layout quality as well as the exact file size of the layout after slicing can be checked.

Dividing an image into slices lets you selectively Optimize it for the web.

2. While optimizing, first select the slices with flat colours with the Slice Select Tool.

Choose Windows > Optimize

3.GIF & JPEG file format is used for the web.

Color values specified should be lowset possible by maintaing the image quality to reduce the file size to enable faster download.

4. Press shift and select the slices of the menu panel except the images surrounding the logo image with the Slice Select Tool

5. In the Optimize window, select JPEG format with the compression quality medium and image quality (0 to 100 %) depending on the layout. We have kept 42 as it is the lowest possible optimization value.

The number of colors decides the file size of the image.

6. Press shift key and select the slices surrounding the logo image.

Since these images have more effects set the File format as jpeg, compression quality as Medium and Colors to 55.
