In
previous newsletter we had learned about various aspects of
Layout Designing. In this newsletter we are going to learn
more about COLOR.
Color plays a major role in a layout to convey visual message
or visual experience. Understanding color can help you to
use it more effectively. First we'll see the basics of color.
Color
can be defined by three properties : Hue,
saturation and brightness or lightness. When we
say color "red", we are referring to it's hue. The
saturation of a color ranges from neutral to brilliant.
The
square on the right is more vivid red than the square on the
left although both have the same hue.
Brightness
or lightness means the amount of light which color transmit.
The
color are divided into three main categories.
Primary Colors
Secondary Colors
Intermediate or Tertiary Colors
Red, Yellow and Blue are called as main (Primary) Colors because
they cannot be
formed by any combination of other colors. All the other colors
are formed by mixing of
these three colors.
Green
, Orange and Purple these are the colors formed by mixing
the Primary Colors.
Yellow-orange,
red-orange, red-purple, blue-purple, blue-green and yellow-green
these are the tertiary colors formed by mixing the secondary
colors.
