The Drop shadow effect places a soft, feathered
shadow under an element.
The drop shadows are widely used in text layers, which contains
only text. The previous exercise is an example for applying
drop shadow effect.
The image shown here displays the effects
option box. The options and the functionality of these options
are given in the table.
Mode
The Same set
of options as seen throughout Photoshop, modes which
allow you to just adjust the way the effect is blended
into the image.
Opacity
Just like the
other opacity setting, this adjusts the "solidness"
of the effect.
Angle
The angle at
which the effect is applied, with options from 180
to -180 degree.
Use
Global Angle
Overrides the
Angle setting and applies the Layer>Effects>Global
Angle configuration.
Distance
The distance
in pixels that the shadow will be offset from the
image, with options from 0 to 30,000.
Blur
The overall
number of pixels in from the edge of the shadow
that will be blurred, with setting from 0 to 50.
Intensity
The relative
softness or hardness of the shadow, with setting
from 0 to 600.
Inner Shadow
The Inner Shadow effect produces the opposite
of the Drop Shadow effect, with objects appearing as if they
have been carved into the background.
