  Special Effects

Images can be depicted accurately by giving special effects. It is easy to give the desired special effects for pictures in Photoshop rather than using a camera. Different types of filters are available in Adobe Photoshop that allows us to transform ordinary images into extraordinary digital art work.

In this session we shall learn how to do the following

To select a particular portion of an image and save the selection for future use.
How to apply painting effects.
Using a Grid to divide the image into sections and manipulate them.
Paint on a layer above the artwork to color the underlying artwork without changing it permanently by changing - the Color balance.
Apply filters to selection to create various special effects.

  Hand-Coloring Selections on a Layer

Saturation is the presence or absence of color in an image. When we desaturate a selection within an image, a gray present in the image is exposed for that particular portion alone without affecting the rest of the image. To desaturate a selection the steps to be followed are

First select the desired portion using the Magnetic Lasso Tool.

After selection, click on the Image menu.

Select the Adjust option.

Now click on the Desaturate option. As a result, the selected portion gets a gray-scale effect.

Choose the Deselect option from the Select menu to deselect the selection.

The image after the effect is shown. Click on the File menu.

Choose the Save option from the File menu to save the image.
