We can use layer-blending modes to determine
how the pixels in a layer are blended with the underlying
pixels on other layers. We can choose a blending mode for
the new layer created without affecting the other layers or
the background layer.
To do this, first create a
new layer by
clicking the Create new layer
button in the Layers
palette.
A layer with default name Layer1
will be created.
Double click the layer Layer1
to view the Layer Options dialog box.
Rename the layer as Paint
in the Name text box of the Layer
Options dialog box.
The layer can be deleted by dragging
the layer to the trash in the
Layers palette.
Click on the Magnetic
Lasso Tool and select a portion
of the image.
