  Working with Palettes

Palettes help the user to monitor and modify images. Adobe Photoshop adds different types of palettes like the color palette to aid the user in adding colors to his imagination, resulting in the creation of mind-blowing, captivating images.

By default, the palettes appear in stacked groups. The palettes can be shown or hidden as we work. To show or hide a palette, click on the appropriate Show or Hide command from the Window menu. For example, in order to show the color palette, the command Show Color is selected from the Window menu.

  Arranging the Work Area

We can arrange our work area according to our needs to facilitate working using the ways listed in the image on the screen.

We can arrange and organize our work area in the following ways.

Press Tab to hide or display all open palettes and the toolbox.
Press Shift key and Tab to hide or display palettes only.
Drag the palette title bar to move an entire palette group.
Click the palette's tab to display it alone in the group.

In order to separate a palette from its group, drag the palette outside the group as shown in the image.

The palette menu can be displayed by holding the mouse button at the point shown in the second image.

  Using Context menus

Context menu is a pop-up menu that makes the work easier by displaying commands that are relevant to the tool, selection or palette being worked with. The context menu can be invoked by right-clicking the mouse over an image or over an item in a palette.
