  Foreground / Background Color Indicator

The Foreground / Background Color indicator indicates the current color selection and it is located at the bottom of the tool. The indicator notes two colors. The uppermost color is the foreground color, which is applied by the various painting and drawing tools. The second color that is behind the first one is used for the background of the image.

The indicator also provides the option of switching the two colors by clicking on the double-headed arrow in the upper-right corner. To switch back to the default colors, i.e. Black and White, simply click the Default Colors icon in the lower-left corner as shown in the image.

  Color Picker

The Color Picker is a powerful tool that allows us to select from more than sixteen million colors for the image.

The color can be selected by moving the pointer over the color field, or it can also be selected by the numeric entry fields. There are four-color models HSB, RGB, Lab and CMYK. When a new color is selected, it is displayed in the top part of the window and the current color moves to the lower part of the window. The slider in the middle of the dialog box controls the color that is displayed in the swatch that is used to manually pick a desired color.

  Using Color Picker

Click on the lower color box in the Foreground/Background Color indicator from the toolbar.

The Color Picker dialog box appears. Move the pointer over the color field to dark blue color.

Click OK.
