Sometimes you may want to duplicate a particular layer, especially when you are unsure about the results of a filter or effect. Rather than destroy an original layer, use duplicate layers to experiment and develop variations.

To Duplicate a layer. Choose Layer from the menu.

Choose Duplicate layer.

This duplicates the selected layer. An option box that comes up on selecting Duplicate layer also allows you to name the Duplicate layer. Click on ok.
