 Basic Photoshop Working > Painting & Editing

  Painting and Filling Images with Color

Tools for drawing include the line, Paintbrush, Airbrush and Pencil Tools. The workflow for applying and tracking color uses a color palette, a swatches palette and the foreground and background color boxes. We can also use a wide variety of editing and retouching tools and various commands and filters for making changes to existing colors in an image and applying special effects. We can choose from several for retouching images like, The Rubber Stamp Tool, The Smudge Tool, The Blur, Sharpen Tool, The Dodge, Burn and Sponge Tools.

  Experimenting with the Painting Tools

Click on the File menu.

Select New. The New dialog box appears.

In the New dialog box, specify the size of the image. The size can be specified either in pixels or in inches. We shall specify the size in pixels with 640 as width and 480 as height. Click OK.

Select the Paintbrush Tool.
