Filling with the Paint Bucket Tool

Let us select the cactus and fill it with color. In the Layer palette, make sure that the Painting layer is the active layer. In the toolbox, Double-Click the Lasso Tool to display its Options palette.

In the Lasso Options palette, enter a value of 3 in the Feather text box.

Create a rough selection around the cactus, using the cactus as a guide. End the selection by crossing the starting point.

Click the Paint Bucket Tool (K) in the toolbox. This tool fills a selection or image with flat color.

In the Swatches palette, select a color.
