  Effects

To make the images more prominent such as three-dimensional appearance, Effects are a good choice. The techniques include Bevel and Emboss, Drop shadow, Inner shadow etc. Styles can be applied by right clicking on the layer to which the effect is to be added in the Layers palette. Click on the Effects menu item in the popup menu.

The image shows the usage of effects that is applied in the Elliptical Marquee. The effects used are Bevel and Emboss, Drop shadow and Inner glow.

  Filters

Choose Filter from the menu to add the special effects to the artwork. In addition to the filters present in Photoshop, plug-in filters can also be added which are developed for Photoshop by non-Adobe software developers. The image shows the glass effect added to the image.

  Painting Tools

With the help of the painting tools, we can add color to the artwork. In case of an existing artwork, we can add colors through the preset swatches, colors and color samples from the existing art.

Always remember to set the opacity to 100% while using Paintbrush. To make slight changes hold down the Alt key to temporarily change from the paintbrush tool to the Eyedropper tool. The image shows the options palette.
