Optimizing a Graphic as a GIF

Graphic images are best optimized in the GIF format. The exercise describes the mode of saving a file in the GIF format.

Click on the File menu.

Select Save for Web.

The Save for Web dialog box appears. In the Save for Web dialog box, select GIF 128 Dithered from the Settings menu. Dithering actually stimulates a large number of colors. Observe the number of colors available in the Color table.

Click on the Optimized tab. The information at the bottom shows the compressed file size and the estimated download time.

In the Settings menu, change the settings to GIF 32 No Dither. Observe the available colors in the Color table. Note how this setting creates a smaller compressed file size.
