 Basic Photoshop Working > Selections

  Moving Selections

The selected area can be moved using the arrow keys. A tool present in the toolbox known as the Move tool can also be used for the same purpose. The Move tool moves the selected area with in the image window. Two things may happen during moving, either the underlying layers of the image are exposed or the raw canvas is made visible.

It is also possible to duplicate and move a selection simultaneously. Clicking on the Move tool along with holding down the Alt does the work. Remember to select the required area before duplicating the area.

  Using Moving Selections

This exercise demonstrates the use of the Move Tool. We will place the text shown in the image inside the circle.

Click the left mouse button and drag over the text, "My Image" and release the mouse button to select the text.

Click on the Move Tool from the toolbox.
