| Adding and Subtracting
Selections |
We can add a selected area to the current
selection to form a group. It is also possible to remove a
particular area from the current selection. Holding the Shift
key, while selecting an area adds to a selection. Holding
down the Alt key, while selecting removes the area from the
current selection.
In this exercise, we will learn how
to add and remove selections using the Magic
Wand Tool. We will make use
of the image shown on the screen for this purpose.
Click on the Magic
Wand Tool from the toolbox.
Click the left mouse button inside the yellow
circle. Watch for the selected area.
Press the Shift
key. Notice the appearance of the "+"
symbol. Click the left mouse button inside the orange circle.
Watch for the selected areas. We have added a new selected
area to an existing one.
Let us now remove the newly selected
area from the selection. Press the Alt
key. Notice the appearance of the "-"
symbol. Click the left mouse button inside the orange circle.
Watch for the selection.
Only the yellow circle is selected. We have
deleted a part of the existing selection.
