  Transforming a Selection

The process of rotating an image is known as transformation. The image shown on the screen displays the rectangular selection outline, which is surrounded by an adjustable frame that appears due to the application of the Free Transform command from the Edit menu. When the cursor is outside the frame, it becomes a rotation tool as seen. When the cursor is clicked and dragged on one of the eight handles, the dimensions of the selection outline change. Lastly, when the cursor is double-clicked inside the frame or the Enter key is pressed, the changes take effect. To undo the transformation, press Ctrl + Z or Undo.

To understand the concept of transformation, let us perform an exercise. We will make an "H" out of the three lines shown in the image using the Transform command. First, we will make a selection.

Click on the Magic Wand Tool from the toolbox.

Click the left mouse button inside the second line. Note the selected area.

Click on the Edit menu.

Select Transform from the drop-down menu.

Select 90 degree CW.

Click on the Select menu.

Select Deselect from the drop-down menu to deselect the selected area.

View the final image.
